If you are getting ready to move locally, there are a lot of things that you can do that will make your move much easier. One of the things that you can do to make sure that your move goes easily is to start getting things out of your house early. The more things that you have already moved out, the less you are going to have to deal with on the actual moving day. However, you can't always move your belongings into your new residence early, which means that you need to come up with someplace else to put them. One place that you can put your belongings is a storage unit. There are a lot of reasons why you might want to do that. 

Organization

One reason why you might want to use a storage unit to make your move easier is that you are going to be able to organize everything as you are moving it. For example, if you have a small house, you might not really have the room to really organize all your belongings as you pack them. But, if you can pack things up and then move them into a storage unit, then you can organize the boxes that go into various rooms of your new house into one area. For example, the back wall of your storage unit may be designated as the area where all the boxes that are going to go into your front room are going to go. Doing that will let you move things early and keep them all in one area. 

Long-Term Storage

Another reason that you might want to use a storage unit in order to make your move easier is that you can just move all the things that you are going to want to store for a long time into the storage unit. If you do that, you aren't moving them from your current house to your new house and then to your storage unit. You can just move those things into the storage unit, saving yourself some time and trips. If you are going to do this and still put other things in your storage unit, then you are going to want to put the things that are going to stay in your unit for a long time towards the back. You don't want to have to remove everything to get to the items that you are in the middle of moving to your new house.
