Making Moving Easier

Making Moving Easier

When my boss asked me to move halfway around the world, I was nervous about how to make the transition easy for my kids. In addition to changing schools, they would also be dealing with a brand new set of circumstances, including leaving their friends behind. To make things a little easier, I decided to do a little research. I found a lot of tips from other parents who had gone through the same things, and they explained how to make moving easier for their kids. This blog is designed to do the same thing for you. Read these tips to make your next move a breeze.

3 Things To Consider When Choosing Boat Storage

Have you purchased your first boat this year? Are you now wondering what you should do with the boat over the winter season? Owning a boat can be great fun, whether you're using it for fishing, water skiing, or something else entirely. But in order to make sure that your boat is in good condition for next year, you'll want to haul the boat out of the water and put it into storage. If you've never had to store a boat before, you may be wondering how to choose a storage location. Some things you can look for include:

Custom supports: It's not uncommon for a boat storage facility to have premade racks available to store the most common type of boats. These may be fine for some boats but can't always be adjusted if your boat happens to vary from the average. If the rack cannot be adjusted, the uneven pressure can cause damage to your boat's hull over time. Look for a storage location that is able to provide customized supports for the boats that are in storage. While this may cost a little more, it's safer for your boat and will help it to last longer.

Available maintenance: Although you may want to handle some of the maintenance yourself, there are other things that you may want to pay to have someone else do. Not every boat storage facility has any repair or drydock-type areas available or the personnel to staff them, but it can be worth your while to find one that does. Make sure to confirm exactly what they can and cannot do or what type of repairs and maintenance they allow you to perform yourself. Some storage facilities will want you to take the boat somewhere else entirely before you can do any work on the boat.

Storage terms: When choosing a boat storage facility, pricing can play an important part. When you're getting the pricing, you need to find out if the price is per month or per season. The price may be cheaper if you pay to store your boat for the whole winter season, but if the weather warms up early and you take your boat out before winter is counted as being over, then you'll still be paying for the entirety of winter. On the other hand, if you're unable to go boating for a while, paying by the month for storage may wind up being the cheaper option.
